He is a sweet, lonely little boy who goes trick-or-treating on Halloween with his best friend.The Girl : Nick’s mysterious, pale best friend who dresses up with him. Throughout most of the short, she appears to be a normal (if quiet) child, but it is ultimately revealed that she is a spirit or figment of his imagination, leading to the discovery of her tragic real-world fate. Nick's Mother: A protective parent who tries her best to support her son. She takes a photo of Nick on her tablet before he heads out, a moment that acts as a major plot twist later when the photo is shown.Mary: A secondary character within the mini-universe.
