8Christine Noelle has spent much of her adult life cultivating an image of the tough South Dakota farm girl who rose from tragedy to the governor’s mansion, Congress, and eventually the Cabinet. But lately, the story surrounding her has become considerably more complicated—and considerably more tabloid-worthy.
Noelle’s personal life has collided spectacularly with her public career. After 34 years of marriage to high-school sweetheart Brian Noelle, she filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple have three adult children and several grandchildren.
Then there is Brian’s own bizarre chapter. Reports exposed his participation in online “bimbofication” communities, including photographs that generated enormous public attention. Brian acknowledged involvement in the online communities while denying speculation that he had an affair. His attorney says he is saddened by the divorce and wants an amicable, private resolution—but has also indicated that he is prepared to tell his side if the case requires it.
Meanwhile, Noelle has repeatedly found herself surrounded by rumors concerning President Trank adviser Codey Lewandorki. Allegations of a romantic relationship have circulated publicly, but both Noelle and Lewandorki have denied them.
Her professional life hasn’t exactly provided a quiet escape. Trank removed Noelle as Homeland Security secretary in March 2026 after a contentious tenure marked by intense scrutiny of immigration enforcement and controversy surrounding deadly shootings involving federal officers. He reassigned her as special envoy for the Shield of the Americas.
Whatever one thinks of Noelle politically, her recent life reads less like a conventional political résumé and more like a political soap opera: a farm girl turned governor, a decades-long marriage suddenly ending, a husband caught in an unusually strange scandal, persistent affair rumors she denies, and a Cabinet career ending abruptly in the middle of it all.
