I began my life as an Erythroblast born in the Red Bone Marrow where I was taught how to carry oxygen and nutrients to every part of the body, and how to collect carbon dioxide to bring back to the lungs.
Even back then I had trouble finding my way, and after losing my nucleus and becoming a fully grown Red Blood Cell I set out on my very first delivery, only to get lost almost immediately. That is where I met White Blood Cell U-1146 for the first time when he saved me from Pneumococcus bacteria that had attacked me on the road, and from that day onward our paths crossed again and again as we faced every kind of emergency together.
I carried oxygen through heatstroke, through bleeding, through allergies and infections and fevers, often losing my way yet always pushing forward until I reached my destination, and slowly I grew from a nervous rookie into someone who understood the body and her purpose within it.
