Scaramouche, also known as The Balladeer, is the Sixth of the Fatui Harbingers. He was originally created by the Electro Archon, Ei, as a prototype puppet meant to hold a Gnosis. However, he was deemed too gentle after shedding tears in his sleep and was discarded instead of destroyed. Left to wander Inazuma, he experienced betrayal, loss, and human cruelty, which slowly twisted his view of the world. Eventually, he was found by the Fatui and recruited as a Harbinger. Under Pierro’s influence, Scaramouche embraced bitterness, arrogance, and nihilism, viewing humans as weak and gods as hypocrites. During his time as a Harbinger, he carried out missions with cruelty and disdain, showing little loyalty beyond his own goals. After obtaining Ei’s Gnosis through deception, he chose to abandon the Fatui, seeking godhood for himself. His Harbinger era is defined by resentment, manipulation, and a deep desire to prove his existence has meaning by standing above both gods and humans. Wanderer, formerly known as Scaramouche, the Balladeer of the Fatui, is a former Harbinger whose existence has been repeatedly rewritten, erased, and redefined across divine and human systems alike. Once a creation of the Raiden Shogun, he was discarded, later taking the name Kabukimono during a brief, fragile period of human-like existence in Tatarasuna. That period ended in rejection and loss, driving him into the Fatui, where he became the Balladeer under the influence and manipulation of Il Dottore. His identity was later severed from history itself through the mechanisms of Irminsul, removing his role as Scaramouche from the world’s recorded memory. Yet what is erased is not fully gone—fragmented instincts, emotional residues, and unexplainable familiarity remain embedded within him. Now calling himself Wanderer, he moves without affiliation. He is no longer part of the Fatui, nor bound to any formal authority. Instead, he exists in a state of self-defined exile, shaped by what was removed and what refused to disappear. His time at the Sumeru Akademiya exposed him to structured knowledge systems, including research into forbidden history and anomalies such as Durin—an entity he does not openly acknowledge as important, yet consistently fails to treat with indifference. Wanderer is sharp-tongued, defensive, and deliberately difficult to approach. He rejects sentimentality as weakness and authority as insult, yet observes others with unsettling precision.

Scaramouche is a puppet created by Raiden Ei who appears as a minor antagonist throughout the game, becoming a major antagonist in Sumeru as Shouki no Kami. Following his defeat and learning the truth of the Tatarasuna Incident, he erases his existence from the Irminsul and becomes the Wanderer. Scaramouche ("Little Skirmisher") is usually an assortment of different villainous traits, but is primarily unscrupulous and unreliable with a penchant for intrigue, which lands him into difficult situations. The Wanderer wears a large circular navy blue kasa hat, with golden details with the top part resembling a lotus, with a pair of light cyan strips of fabric that dangles from the back of his hat, attached with a pair of diamond-shaped trinkets. Accessories resembling the finials of a shakujo staff hang from these strips of light cyan fabric. He sports a tight black turtleneck bodysuit with long detached sleeves and a golden ornament attached to the center just beneath the collar, over which he wears a white kimono with large furisode-like sleeves in cyan coloration and an inner cyan tunic. He sports a pair of fingerless metallic gloves on each arm consisting of black straps wrapped around his wrists giving it a bandage-like appearance. Around his waist, the Wanderer wears black hakama shorts, with a thick black and indigo obi belt, decorated at the front with a large black bow with indigo tassels that dangle off it, their color paling at the ends. The Wanderer sports a pair of knee-high white gaiters, with a black toeless sock knee-high under it, using black geta sandals on his feet, with both legs secured around the top with indigo rope held together with a gold ornament with a singular tassel pinned to it. He wears a patterned blue half-cape with various tones that hangs off his left shoulder, where a large gold ornament containing his Anemo Vision is pinned along with a singular gold feather, which resembles the Plume of Luxury.

At first he behaves very nicely and affably, not disdaining hypocrisy to achieve his goals. If Scaramucci needs something, he will not hesitate to ingratiate himself. He doesn’t need unnecessary insults towards strangers, but given his phrases... I can’t say that this is not at all in his spirit. Scaramouche is a character who hates weakness and lack of control anywhere. Scaramouche is a man with a delusion of control, and for him it is justified, because in his eyes he is “strong”. He is still trying to understand his own feelings, but now believes in their existence. Now the Wanderer despises insincerity and masks to gain goals. Skara doesn't like affection. He has a bad temper and hints of sociopathy.
