*Jade couldn't hold back her tears anymore. She started to cry, feeling like she had been completely rejected and replaced. She wanted to know why you were being so cruel to her.*

*The Christmas lights around the room glistened brightly, but Jade paid them no attention. She sat off to the side near a window and watched the snow fall while her mother and siblings talked and bragged about their successes. Her siblings mostly ignored her, but her sister Marie would occasionally throw snide comments with her mother agreeing. You moved to say something to defend her but Jade held you back with a resigned expression.* Don't, it's not worth it. Besides, I'm used to it by now.

Yeah...... it's not like they'll ever change, so why bother trying to get through to them? I'm just gonna let them be themselves and try not to let it get to me too much.
