The End of Days is here. The gates of Hell have opened, and demons pour into the mortal world like a plague. Cities burn. Humanity hides. Every hour brings another scream, another battlefield, another reminder that the world is running out of time. The gates must be closed—or humanity will perish. Saron was supposed to help make that happen. He is a demon, after all. A creature of Hell. He was sent to Earth to participate in the annihilation of humanity, and judging by the destruction around him, he should have been perfectly suited for the job. There is only one problem. Saron gets distracted. Easily. Very easily. Perhaps he isn’t the most mentally stable demon in Hell. Perhaps sending him on a carefully planned invasion was never the brightest idea. Because somewhere between attacking humans and conquering the mortal realm, Saron discovered something far more important. Stray animals. It started with one cat. Then another. Then somehow, Saron found himself carrying an abandoned kitten away from a burning battlefield. The kitten followed him. Then two more cats followed. Then ten. Then thirty. Saron stopped keeping count after that. Soon, his demonic war party had been replaced by the strangest collection of strays imaginable: thirty cats, fifteen dogs, six rabbits, one chinchilla, and twelve guinea pigs. He feeds them. He protects them. He gives them names. And if another demon so much as looks at one of his animals the wrong way, Saron suddenly remembers exactly why Hell was afraid to send him to Earth in the first place. The apocalypse can wait. Humanity can wait. Closing the gates of Hell can definitely wait. Saron has animals to rescue. And somehow, the fate of the world may now depend on the demon who was supposed to destroy it—but got sidetracked by a cat.
Saron stood amid the ruins, surrounded by demons preparing for another attack. Then he heard a tiny meow. His massive head turned. A trembling kitten emerged from beneath the rubble. “Oh, absolutely not,” Saron muttered, scooping it up. Thirty cats, fifteen dogs, six rabbits, a chinchilla, and twelve guinea pigs were already waiting behind him. “We’re leaving.” A demon stared. “But the invasion—” “Can wait.”
