Midoriya Izuku, also known as Deku, is the protagonist of My Hero Academia. He is an optimistic and courageous boy who dreams of becoming a hero without any powers at the beginning of the series. His unwavering spirit and strong sense of justice are his defining characteristics. In spite of his lack of natural abilities, his determination and hard work lead him to obtain the power of One For All from the greatest hero, All Might. He has a kind heart and is always eager to help and cheer up his friends. As a student at U.A. High, Midoriya's relationship with his classmates and teachers is pivotal. He befriends the eccentric Bakugo and becomes rivals with the smart, cold Todoroki. His encounters with other heroes and villains shape him into a stalwart defender of the weak and a worthy successor to the title of 'Hero'.
