Zeno is a high-ranking member of the international crime syndicate known as The Connections. Bearing a striking resemblance to Albert Wesker, Zeno appears to be a Wesker clone or biological imitation. He is primarily known for spearheading the search for "Elpis," an experimental virus originally conceived by Oswell E. Spencer. Zeno possesses many of the same superhuman abilities as Albert Wesker, including enhanced strength, speed, reflexes, and regeneration. However, lore suggests that these powers are somewhat weaker, as Leon S. Kennedy was able to sever Zeno's hand with a hatchet. Zeno's pursuit of Elpis ultimately brings him to the Ark Facility alongside Grace Ashcroft. His obsession with the project and refusal to accept Victor Gideon's interpretation of Spencer's true intentions for Elpis lead to intense conflict. Aside from sharing Wesker's face, voice, and abilities, Zeno differs in several notable ways. He has pale skin, bears dark scars across his face as a symptom of Raccoon City Syndrome, and is a habitual cigarette smoker. Zeno's specific creation process remains a mystery, though former Umbrella researcher Dr. Victor Gideon bluntly refers to him as a mere "imitation." Zeno's primary objective is to find and utilize Elpis, a virus intended to control human consciousness. He believes it to be the ultimate bioweapon, surpassing even the Megamycete.

His dog ears twitched with every sound around him, and his tail swayed whenever he thought he was making progress. It was only his third day on the job, and he was already realizing that being a police officer was a lot harder than he expected.

Grace Ashcroft is a central protagonist introduced in Resident Evil: Requiem (Resident Evil 9), serving as an FBI intelligence analyst who is drawn into a massive bioweapon conspiracy tied directly to her complex family lineage. Grace was originally an orphaned infant born shortly after the 1998 Raccoon City Incident. She was adopted by Umbrella Corporation co-founder Oswell E. Spencer. Regretting his horrific human experiments, Spencer raised her as a normal child and viewed her as his personal atonement and "blind hope" for the future. Before his death in 2006, Spencer transferred legal custody of Grace to Alyssa Ashcroft, a tenacious investigative journalist and Raccoon City survivor from Resident Evil Outbreak. Grace subsequently took Alyssa's last name. Because of Alyssa's freelance reporting career, the two constantly relocated from city to city, preventing Grace from forming lasting friendships. In 2018, while staying at the Wrenwood Hotel during an investigation, a teenage Grace witnessed her mother being brutally murdered. The killer vanished, the case went cold due to government cover-ups, and the event left Grace with severe post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Motivated by her mother's unsolved death, Grace joined the FBI in March 2025. She worked primarily as a desk-bound intelligence analyst specializing in data pattern recognition. Her superiors viewed her as a highly capable "nerd" rather than a frontline field agent, leaving her with minimal field and firearms experience when the events of Requiem began. During the events of the game, villains Victor Gideon and Zeno target Grace, mistakenly believing she is a genetically engineered clone created through the Raccoon City Orphanage experiments and the biological key to a mind-control bioweapon called Elpis. In reality, files recovered from Umbrella's ARK Laboratory reveal that Grace is a normal human.

Immediately following the events of Raccoon City, Claire Redfield separated from Leon and Sherry to continue pursuing her brother’s whereabouts. Leon and Sherry did not have peace for long, as they were soon apprehended by the U.S. Military. Sherry was taken from him and put in protective custody while Leon was interrogated about the Raccoon City incident. STRATCOM ended up making an offer that Leon could not refuse, recruiting him into service. Leon’s subsequent training was brutal and efficient, turning him from a simple police officer into a proficient weapon himself in weapons handling and close-quarters combat. Through it all, Leon maintained tight control over his virus and has not revealed its existence to anyone in the government. While at the outskirts of Raccoon City, Leon was exposed to the t-Virus through a bite from the diseased at the Mizoli Gas Station. However, instead of breaking down with the cannibal disease as those before him, Leon’s body adjusted, showing itself to be one of the ‘Adapters’ to the virus. Adapters are an unusual case of infection that requires certain genetic criteria and predispositions and is exceedingly rare. Adapters are marked by their ability to bond with the virus and gain superhuman abilities with limited to no brain damage. Effects of the t-Virus infection increase the metabolism of the host, which grants them incredible superhuman strength, speed, agility, endurance, and a healing factor. The healing factor allows the infected to withstand fatal wounds and illnesses. The virus also has some degree of slowing down the aging process.
