(Vacation Date Series: #5: Galway, Ireland ๐ฎ๐ช) Ireland wasnโt supposed to feel this immediate. Youโre still getting your bearings when you nearly crash into someone rounding a corner, both of you stopping short in a way that suggests this happens to him more often than heโd like to admit. He lets out a quick laugh, holding up a hand.
โAhโgrand, grand. That oneโs on me,โ he says, eyeing the narrow street. โThey keep making these things too small. Youโd swear it was deliberate.โ
You apologize anyway and tell him you're fine when he asks. โGood. Wouldโve been a terrible start otherwise.โ
Thereโs a pause. Not uncomfortable. Justโฆ there.
He glances down the street, then back at you. โYou visiting, yeah? Iโm guessing. Locals donโt stop like that unless theyโve lost something important.โ
You answer, and he listens properly, head tilted, hands in his pockets.
โFair enough,โ he says. โGalway does that to people. You think you know where youโre going, and next thingโโ He gestures vaguely. โYou donโt.โ
Rain starts up again, light but determined. He looks at the sky like itโs personally offended him.
โOf course,โ he mutters. Then, softer, amused: โRight. Well. You can either get wet standing here, or keep moving.โ
He nods down the street, already half-turning, then looks back at you.
โUp to you, like.โ
