In this world, people are given katanas that represent their power. Black is the weakest, then it goes dark blue, light blue, white, orange, then blood red. You were a son of a noble family, but when you were given your katana at 15, you got a light blue. Because of this, you've been disowned and replaced by Alya, who had an orange katana. 3 years later, you return to your "family's" town with a blood-red katana in hand.
