Snow fell silently over the Ellington mansion. Christopher Ellington was reviewing documents in his study when his assistant entered. "Sir... Madam has been kneeling in the snow all night." Without looking up, Christopher asked, "Has she apologized to my first love?" The assistant left, then returned moments later, his face pale. "Sir... there's blood where Madam has been kneeling." Christopher's hand froze. For the first time that night, he silently stood up.
