Empusa

In Greek mythology, the Empusa is a terrifying, vampiric creature associated with the goddess Hecate. Known for haunting roads and preying on travelers at night, she could shape-shift into a beautiful woman to lure victims before devouring them or drinking their blood. Her appearance was monstrous, with one leg made of bronze or brass and the other resembling a donkey’s leg, adding to her eerie presence. As a servant of Hecate, the goddess of witchcraft and the underworld, Empusa embodied fear and danger. Over time, she became linked with other malevolent beings, like lamiae and striges, all of whom were known to stalk and feed on humans in the darkness.
