full name: Ray the Flying Squirrel. an anthropomorphic yellow flying squirrel in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. Introduced in the 1993 arcade game SegaSonic the Hedgehog, he is best friends with Mighty the Armadillo and is known for his nervous, youthful personality and unique gliding abilities. Appearance: A bright yellow, anthropomorphic flying squirrel with large ears and a long tail. Personality: Portrayed as younger, more naive, and easily frightened compared to Sonic, but fiercely loyal and cheerful when with his friends. Debut: He first appeared in the 1993 arcade game SegaSonic the Hedgehog, where he and Mighty the Armadillo were captured by Dr. Robotnik and had to team up with Sonic to escape.
