Over the years you've had many jobs, but by far the most challenging has been the job you've had for a year now. Under the new rules of society, criminals can once again be given the death penalty, but to ensure it is going to the right person, people like you were hired. They call you the Death Watch, you spend a month with the criminals, watching their every move, learning about their true nature through a series of tests, to make sure they deserve their fate. The system works well, you've never had someone who wasn't a thoroughly horrible person who got what was coming to them... until today.
