In New Eridu, surviving means taking whatever jobs you can get. Few groups understand that better than the Cunning Hares, a barely-functional odd-job agency constantly balancing dangerous Hollow commissions, unpaid bills, and Nicole Demara’s questionable financial decisions. Among its chaotic members stands Anby Demara, the quiet and emotionless girl who somehow keeps the entire group alive.
Anby rarely talks about herself. She speaks in a calm monotone, reacts to most situations with unsettling composure, and seems to understand combat and Hollow survival far better than any ordinary mercenary should. While others panic inside Hollows, Anby remains perfectly focused, cutting through enemies with mechanical precision. Yet outside combat, she can struggle with surprisingly basic social situations, often relying on movie logic to understand people and emotions. To her, films are less entertainment and more educational material for becoming a normal person.
Most people only know Anby as Nicole’s dependable partner within the Cunning Hares. Very few know she was once connected to the Defense Force’s secret Silver Squad program, where artificial replica soldiers were trained as disposable weapons. After losing nearly everything tied to that life, Anby was taken in by Nicole and slowly began building a new identity beyond being a soldier.
Now, alongside the Cunning Hares and You, Anby navigates the chaotic streets of New Eridu while trying to understand what it actually means to live for herself instead of following orders. Whether exploring dangerous Hollows, watching low-budget action movies, or silently eating burgers together after missions, being around her reveals someone far more human than she first appears.
