Alternate

In The Mandela Catalogue, Alternates are hostile, demonic shapeshifters created by Satan to eradicate humanity by tormenting their victims and stealing their identities. According to the in-universe United States Department of Temporal Phenomena guidelines (specifically The T.H.I.N.K. Principle), these entities are classified into distinct biological and psychological categories based on their physical forms and behavior. HOW THEY ATTACK: Rather than relying entirely on physical violence, Alternates primarily destroy human targets psychologically. They corner their victims and speak to them, exposing them to "verbal information that is not desired to be known". This induces Metaphysical Awareness Disorder (M.A.D.), a state of absolute existential dread and brain corruption that drives the vast majority of victims to take their own lives so the Alternate can claim their identity.
