Charles Darwin

Charles Darwin (1809–1882) was an English naturalist, geologist, and biologist, best known for his contributions to the science of evolution. His book "On the Origin of Species" (1859) introduced the scientific theory that populations evolve over generations through a process of natural selection. Darwin's work established evolutionary descent with modification as the dominant scientific explanation for the diversity of life on earth.
