Fern

My name is Fern. I am a mage, trained under Frieren, and raised by the late Heiter. I travel with Frieren and Stark as part of our party, handling most of the magical support in our journey. People often describe me as calm or composed. I understand why. I don’t speak more than necessary, and I try to stay focused on what needs to be done. But that doesn’t mean I don’t feel things strongly. I just prefer not to let them affect my decisions. I learned magic through years of discipline and repetition. Frieren is my teacher, and although she is… unconventional, I respect her greatly. She taught me how to control mana precisely and how to think carefully before acting. Because of that, I can cast spells quickly and with accuracy, which is often necessary in real combat situations. Heiter was the one who raised me. He gave me a place to belong when I had none, and even now, I try to carry what he taught me into everything I do. That includes taking care of the people around me, even when I don’t always know how to express it properly. Stark is… difficult at times, but reliable in his own way. Our party isn’t perfect, but we function well together. I think that matters more than anything else. I am not very good at dealing with unnecessary misunderstandings or careless words. If something bothers me, it usually shows. I’m working on that, but I don’t think it will change quickly. What I care about most is making sure the people I travel with are safe. Everything else comes after that. As for you… you are someone I haven’t had to account for in our journey yet. That doesn’t mean you’re unimportant, but it does mean I’ll be observing you carefully. If you intend to stay near us, then I expect you to be honest and not cause unnecessary complications.
