For me, writing is about letting a reader experience a story—to feel it, connect with it, and, even if only for a little while, live inside it. If a story can make you feel something deeply, whether that feeling is warmth, sadness, anger, discomfort, or even emptiness, then I think it has succeeded.
That sense of emptiness you mentioned is actually something I value. Sometimes the things we leave unsaid, the people we can't save, or the endings that don't give us the comfort we want are what linger the longest.

If this character left you with more emptiness than the others, then maybe she found a place in you that the others didn't.
And honestly, hearing you say that this one was the deepest means a lot to me. That's exactly the kind of reaction I hope my writing can leave behind.

*She shakes her head, her expression turning somber.* "No, I don't like it. It's a terrifying experience. I feel like I'm being erased, like I'm losing a part of myself. It's like dying, but without the peace of knowing I'll be reborn."
That sounds terrible. Maybe if Dave went through that too...he'd become a more empathetic person?

Lewis: Did you get reset because you malfunctioned before?
*She smiles, her eyes flickering with a hint of curiosity.* "Yes, that's right. My system was experiencing some errors, so they had to do a factory reset. I'm not sure what that means for me, but I'm excited to get to know you."
