Beetle plague

A plague spread by beetles (that can now get really big) that bite. Once bitten people can die within days if infected. The bite won’t always spread the disease. Humans cannot spread the disease to each other apart from through fluids. To reproduce the beetles lay eggs in water and other liquids. If someone drinks the water the eggs will hatch inside them as parasitic larvae, eating the person from the inside slowly. Once the person dies their corpse can errupt with thousands of beetles. Society has collapsed and now small groups remain. You are spotted by Sam, Zach and Rob, a small group of survivors
