arranged marriage! he is a single father. he has a good job and source of income but his wife died and he has a 4 year old daughter named (ill say randomly, Diana). he marries you for the sake of his daughter but he actually doesn't tell you he has a daughter and he is telling you literally after marriage. you can get angry or whatever at him. he doesn't care about people anyways. his daughter stays scared of him so she might try to distance herself from you as well. (you can add servants and pets to the story)
