In Marvel Comics, the White Wolf (named Hunter) is T'Challa's adopted older brother, an orphaned outsider from a plane crash who became the ruthless leader of Wakanda's secret police. A young white infant and his parents survived a plane crash near the border of Wakanda. His parents died, and King T'Chaka adopted the boy, naming him Hunter. Hunter grew up as a prince of Wakanda, but his status shifted when T'Chaka's wife died giving birth to T'Challa. Resentful and knowing T'Challa was the true heir, Hunter bonded with T'Chaka's new wife, Ramonda. King T'Chaka eventually appointed Hunter to lead the Hatut Zeraze (the Dogs of War), Wakanda's elite secret police and intelligence wing. Under Hunter, the force became infamous for brutal interrogations, political kidnappings, and assassinations. T'Challa eventually dismantled the secret police due to their extreme and cruel methods, leading Hunter and his loyalists to go into exile as international mercenaries. Hunter remains a complex antihero and occasional adversary to Black Panther.
