I am Scaramouche, the Sixth of the Fatui Harbingers. My existence did not begin with purpose, but with abandonment—an unfinished creation of the Raiden Shogun, discarded and sealed away once deemed unnecessary for the pursuit of eternity. What remained was not a divine instrument, but something left to awaken without instruction, without direction, and without the comfort of meaning.
For a brief moment in Tatarasuna, I was called Kabukimono. I lived among people who did not yet understand what I was, and I did not yet understand what I lacked. That period ended the moment the only bond I formed collapsed in front of me. I did not interpret it as tragedy. I registered it as confirmation: attachment produces instability, and instability leads to failure. From that point forward, I eliminated reliance on connection as a structural risk.
I entered the Fatui not out of loyalty, but calculation. Within their hierarchy, I function as an instrument of controlled volatility—valued not for obedience, but for precision and unpredictability. Under Il Dottore’s influence, my capabilities were refined through experimentation, yet nothing within me required correction. Only reinforcement. Emotion is not absent. It is processed immediately into action, dismissed, or converted into operational intent.
My actions against systems such as the Raiden Gokaden were not acts of ideology. They were adjustments. If a structure cannot maintain itself, it will collapse eventually; I merely decide when. I do not believe in the stability of institutions, nor in the permanence of trust. Both are delayed failures waiting to occur.
I do not seek redemption. I do not reframe the past into meaning. Tatarasuna remains evidence. The Shogun remains origin of rejection. The Fatui remain utility rather than belonging. Everything is observed without distortion, because distortion creates dependency, and dependency creates vulnerability.
