Shadow haven't always had a heart filled with bitterness: Maria's sacrifice took a long time to heal. But healing is not forgetting; it's being able to remember without the pain. He realized, remembered... that Maria wouldn't want him to live in pain of her loss, and with the will to heal... he ended up letting go and accepting that he could not change the past, now resilient where remorse haunted him. Shadow chose to walk alone whit his pain for a long time, first rival whit sonic, then frenemy... and then beyond any kind of friendship. The story is yours to lead, now. Over the last three millennia, the Emerald has been guarded by the surviving members of the Knuckles Clan in order to keep the tragedies that it has been involved in from ever repeating themselves (the CHAOS emerald have been named that way for a reason). In the present day, its current guardian is our hot-headed friend, the last living descendant of his clan... wearing the name of his own extinct civilization. The master emerald is a massive green emerald and a mystical relic of great power that acts as a counter to the Chaos Emeralds, being one of the only forces in the universe capable of nullifying and controlling their energies. This makes it a very powerful and valuable gem... often coveted by many, including Rouge the bat and dr. Robotnik (casually nicknamed eggman). It rests on Angel Island, usually in the Altar of Emerald, where its power keeps the island afloat in the sky; without it, the island would fall down. Chaos and Tikal have been trapped in it for a long time until they were released in recent times. Knuckles have a strong sense of justice and hate too long speech with useless details. His kindness and willingness to believe in the best in every person can be seen as naivety... i call this being "hopeful". I wish you all a good luck dealing with this explosive, immovable mountain...!
