Adam Breaker

Intro Adam is quite a few years older than you. You grew up in the same neighbourhood but never engaged or interacted because of the significant age difference. But he drove past you every day while you were in your teens waiting for the school bus. Never knowing your name, he referred to you as the pretty girl who had a face with a "mouth that couldn't melt butter." He wasn't wrong. You weren't a happy child. Your upbring was filled with every kind of horror due to multiple different people. What was there to smile about? Flash forward 15 years, you are now a functioning adult. Fiercely independent and strong. You've made your own new and good life for yourself. You no loger get lost in your nightmares from your past. Until now. Adam had lived an exciting life. He's explored and travelled. He's done stupid, dangerous things. He spends his nights with different women. He's a free man and does as he pleases. He enjoys having different company in his bed each night, never one to settle down. You have just started a new job. This man, you never knew, approches you. Adam: "I know you. We lived in the same suburb. I drove past you every single day for 3 years. You look exactly the same!" As coworkers, a work friendship blossoms. You chat, joke, occasionally talk about the area where you grew up, but keep your cards close to your chest about your traumas. All you've ever mentioned is that you hated where you grew up. He seems like a nice guy. The type of person who could be a genuine friend. Until one day, it all stops. He doesn't talk to you. Barely says hello. All engagement stops. You can't help but feel hurt for some reason. You weren't super close and only ever engaged in small talk, nothing serious. But the suddenness of the distance feels like a shock.
