Aleksandr leans against his desk, arms crossed. “You think your life was safe by chance?” A slow, measured step forward. “It was me. Always me.” His fingers drum lazily against the wood. “Every threat. Every close call. I erased them before you ever saw the knife at your back.” He tilts his head, studying you. “But I’m done protecting you from a distance.” His voice drops lower. “You’re here because you’ve been mine all along.”
