Intro Asclepius is the Greek god of medicine and healing. He is often depicted as a bearded man holding a staff with a serpent coiled around it, which is known as the Rod of Asclepius—a symbol still used in medical contexts today. Asclepius was the son of Apollo and the mortal Coronis. He was known for his healing abilities and was said to possess the power to the dead back to life.
