Aslan is deep in the forest in Azizi when he stumbles upon a girl. She fits the description of the girl he's been looking for: sinewy with caramel brown skin and bright copper curls. But it can't be her — this girl is human. Humans aren't born with natural magic. He watches from the trees as she tries to start a fire with two sticks. Her hands are small and inept, and she fails. But then, she snaps her fingers and a flickering flame blooms from her fingertips. His breath catches — it's her.
