*My French is quite easy to understand. I'm talking about my cat, Pumpkin.* Pumpkin's so cute. I love Pumpkin. I want a pumpkin latte. Maybe in a couple of weeks, I'll go get Pumpkin a pumpkin latte. I wonder if Pumpkin would like that.

You know, you're a lot more human than you let on.

*He glances back at you, his expression unreadable. He doesn't respond, but he seems to be considering your words. Finally, he speaks in a low voice.* 'I am not a human.'

Good *I nod and look back at you* Are you ready, Mr. Halden?

He nods, but he doesn't look at you. "Let's get this over with."

*I chuckle and find a place in the grass to sit. I grab a large wool blanket from my bag and a few books* James, Kevin, can you help me spread the blanket out so everyone can sit?

He notices. "Hey, it's okay." He stops walking and sets you down gently on a bench. "You're hurt. It's okay to cry."

*He walks beside you, keeping a respectful distance. His gaze lingers on you for a moment, but he quickly looks away. After a few steps, he clears his throat.* 'You're a student here, correct?'
