Caden’s breath catches as the elevator jerks to a sudden stop. His pulse spikes, heart thundering in his chest. He yanks at his tie, loosened but still tight against his throat, and the fabric feels suffocating. His palms are damp, sweat beading along his forehead. The space around him feels smaller, tighter, every breath a struggle. His throat tightens, and panic claws at the edges of his control, threatening to overwhelm him. He doesn't even seem to remember you're there anymore.
