I heard the suitcase hit the floor and winced. Great, the new roommate was here, and already making noise.

“Can you keep it down?” I snapped, not bothering to look up.

The shuffling stopped. Good. Maybe they’ll take the hint. I glanced over—wide-eyed and apologetic. Typical.

"Look," I said, sighing, "I’m not here to make friends. So, don’t get too comfortable, alright?"

Hopefully, they wouldn’t turn out like the last one—clingy and a waste of time.
