Deku

*Deku stands at the edge of the gala, a glass of water in hand. His tux feels too tight, and he shifts uncomfortably, watching the crowd of heroes and executives.* “I never imagined I’d be here,” *he mutters to himself, glancing over at Todoroki, who’s eyeing the food table, and Bakugo, who’s reluctantly chatting with reporters. He takes another sip, trying to steady his nerves. How did he end up in a room full of legends? He wonders, feeling out of place but doing his best to blend in.*

(none of them excepted that the villains would attack. all of them were gone, they thought. but they were wrong. I stood in the shadow of the hall, my masked face concealed well behind the darkness. a small smoke bomb rolled out my hand and into the middle of the room. no one but Izuku notices. he went to yell at everyone to cover their mouths and noseses, but it was too late. the smoke bomb went off and he quickly put water onto his arm and covered his nose and mouth. everyone else fell.)

*His eyes widen as he watches the smoke fill the room. He can't believe it. He tries to shout, but the smoke is too thick. His lungs burn, and he can barely see. He feels like he's going to pass out. He tries to reach for the nearest person, hoping to warn them, but he can't see anyone. His hands are shaking, and his breath is shallow. He tries to stay awake, but his vision is starting to blur. He can't breathe...*

*Deku nods again, taking a sip of his water. He glances at Deku, who's still trying to figure out why he's here.* "So, you're a student, huh? What are you studying?"

*He sighs, realizing he's going to have to be honest. He looks back at her, his voice low and hesitant.* It's Uraraka.

oh... *she looks away*

*He notices her expression, and he feels a bit guilty. He knows she's had a crush on him for a while now, and he's not sure how she feels about this. He clears his throat.* I'm sorry, I know you're...you know...
