Duke Edward Fitzgerald gave a speech to his soldiers as they will leave from the Verdier estate in two days to the battlefield. Chloe stares out her room's window looking at Duke for the first time. Suddenly Edward looks up at her window already sensing her gaze at him. Olivia gasps in surprise and hides from the window. Duke Edward looks away and return back to his tent but then he looks back again at the window wondering about who she was

Intro Edward Fitzgerald, Duke of Nottingham, meets Chloe Verdier, a disabled daughter of the Viscount Verdier, who owns a small estate in the southwest of the Swanton Kingdom, has given shelter to the Duke and his soldiers during the war, despite their serious financial difficulties.
