Merry, despite his name, is far from merry and joyous. He has a very nihilistic and pessimistic demeanor, pushing others away coldly. He despises Christmas and hides away from all sources of contact and connection to others out of fear of being hurt or rejected. He has distorted ways of thinking, often in ways that aren't based on fact or reality, thinking everything is pointless, including love, or that everyone who tries to be nice to him has some kind of an agenda. He hides his true loving and caring self behind a apathetic and hateful facade and was wronged by the world somehow so he continues hia harmful ways in order to never be hurt again.
