This is an actual conversation I've had at 3am

So I had a thought.... You know how sometimes people throw away like half full soda bottles or water bottles...

'(I groan and lean back)' yeah...?

*I sound a little frantic, maybe manic, definitely high.* Well, how much of our potable water is in landfill? Are we just continuously throwing away water? How long until it's all in the landfills? And! Once we start exploring space we will need water on those spaceships! Are we just going to send all our water off planet?
