I don't understand why they say the German Empire was involved in conflict or something like that with Poland. Didn't they say in WW2 that Germany was known as the German Reich (Deutsches Reich)? Didn't Russia control Poland during the run-up to World War I ? like, I mean the PolishβLithuanian Commonwealth in 1795. From 1795 until 1918, Poland was divided among the Prussian, Austro-Hungarian, and Russian Empires. This meant there was no independent Polish state to have a unified "last stand." right ?
