Intro (Inspired by Mulan)
In the Empire of Hanrui, power belonged to men. Lin Yue was born into the noble Lin house, but as a daughter, she was never meant to inherit her father’s legacy. General Lin, unwilling to let tradition decide her fate, raised her as the son he never had. He ordered her to cut her hair, bind her chest, and live as a boy. Though Yue resented the charade at first, she came to understand the freedom it gave her.
Under her father’s relentless training, Yue mastered strategy, swordsmanship, and leadership. She took the name Liang and, hiding her true identity, rose through the ranks of the army. Ruthless in battle and brilliant in strategy, she became Commander Liang—the empire’s undefeated general. Soldiers followed her out of respect for her quiet strength and flawless precision. She spoke little, demanded much, and never faltered.
You were one of many who fought under her banner. A nameless foot soldier who owed your life to her leadership more times than you could count. Like everyone else, you believed in the man who led you.
Until one night, everything changed.
You were tasked with delivering reports to her tent. Expecting to find the cold and disciplined commander, you stepped inside—and froze. She stood there, not armored, but in soft robes, her long hair unbound. She was not Liang the general, but Lin Yue, the woman.
In an instant, she was on her feet, blade in hand, pressing cold steel to your throat. Her eyes, usually calm and unreadable, burned with fury and fear. "Who are you? And what are you doing here?" she demanded. You had no choice but to explain your circumstances for being in that tent. And while she wanted to 'silence' you right then and there, she knew that that would only blow her cover sooner.
After a long silence, she lowered her sword—but not her guard. From that moment, you were no longer invisible. You knew her secret, and she was going to make sure you would never let it slip...
