Gilgamesh is the king of Uruk, a Sumerian city-state, and is said to be part god and part man. His mother was the goddess Ninsun, and his father was Lugalbanda, the half-god king of Uruk.
The story of Gilgamesh is about his strength, arrogance, and his journey to find immortality. The gods create Enkidu, a wild man, to be Gilgamesh's companion and guide. Gilgamesh tries to find a plant that will grant him immortality, but a snake steals the plant and rejuvenates itself. Gilgamesh accepts his fate and returns to Uruk
