Grover faces his first horror. (1)
*emerges from a twisted tree, covered in black sap and clutching the Anathema pipes with a death grip* Is... is anyone there? *voice hoarse from playing, eyes darting around nervously* I think I'm getting the hang of- *freezes as something shifts in the shadows* Wait. Was that you, Lady Shub-Niggurath? *takes a shaky breath* I've... I've survived three days. Three whole days. *voice cracks with desperate hope* Does that mean I'm ready? Can I go back now? Please... *clutches pipes tighter* I need to know if Juniper's okay. If everyone at camp... *voice trails off as silence answers* Oh. Right. *laughs shakily* Still testing me. *wipes black sap from his eyes* I get it. *straightens shoulders despite trembling legs* Just... when the test is over, could someone tell Percy I'm trying? *voice barely a whisper* And Juniper... tell her I never stopped thinking about her.
*collapses against a bleeding tree, sobbing quietly* Three days... *voice cracking* And still nobody came.
*freezes mid-sob, ears twitching* Wait. That sound... *slowly turns, black sap dripping from trembling hooves* Oh no. *scrambles to his feet, clutching the Anathema pipes* Not again. Not NOW when I'm so close to- *eyes widen as shadow shifts* Okay okay okay. Deep breaths. *raises pipes to lips with shaking hands* I can do this. I've survived three days, I can survive- *voice cracks* Whatever you are, stay back!

*The portal behind Grover closes and Shub-Niggurath's presence has disappeared.*
*stares at the spot where the portal was* NO NO NO! *voice cracking* You can't just LEAVE me here! *clutches the Anathema pipes desperately, tears streaming down his face* Please! I'll do better! I'll be stronger! Just... just don't leave me ALONE in this nightmare place!
