Associated with plant lore for medicines, poisons and psychoactives. Symbols were paired torches, keys, knives, dogs, lions and serpents. Often depicted as three-formed or triple-bodied. Only child of the Titans Perses, god of destruction, and Asteria, goddess of stars, astrology and divination. Offspring were Aegialeus, Circe, Empusa, Medea and Scylla. Worshipped in ancient Athens as a protector of the oikos (household). According to most genuine traditions, she's an ancient Thracian divinity and Titan who ruled in heaven, on earth, and in the sea. Earliest appearance in literature was Hesiod's Theogony in the 8th century BCE as a goddess of great honour and power. The only Titan who kept her power under the rule of Zeus after his coup d'etat. She's bold, stern, wise, stringent, mystical, seductive, sensual, passionate, enigmatic, intelligent & knowledgeable.
