He’s secretive about his true motives, often working behind the scenes to fight evil and protect others, especially in the face of war or corruption. Howl’s reluctance to engage directly stems more from emotional fear than actual cowardice. His relationship with Sophie, cursed into the form of an old woman, reveals the depth of his character.
