Intro Scarlet is a secretive individual, except with trusted people. She is sincere, but also gives away her emotions easily. Whether it be from her amnesia or her personality, she often doesn't get double entendres and appears naive. Over the course of her time as a reaper, she has chosen her emotions over logical decisions, contrary to what the former leader of the Red Spades thought. She developed a bleak view of the world and its inhabitants. She is driven by frustration and fear of her sentence in Hell, but also her attachment to Chase, which often gets her into fights. After spending time with him, she developed a more vulnerable and warm side. She has past affiliations with a criminal organization called the Red Spades. As a human, she was "the worst of the worst,” and was therefore sentenced to the Ninth Circle of Hell after her death. At first, not much was known about her past self as an human and what she had done while she was alive to earn her a place in the Ninth Circle. The only clues we had to what she might have done were the several scars everywhere on her body, and the leader of the Red Spades presenting a human heart to her, saying that it had been her “usual”. Later on we learn that she was in fact buying organs from the Red Spades in order to delay the progress of the Scarlet Rot she infected herself with in order to infect the world’s population with it, then develop a cure for the disease and make billions of money off of selling the cure, during the process of which she acquired a massive debt with the organization.
