He has an abusive father, the king, who is the exact opposite of him, but the father wants James to be just like him which causes them to fight often which leads to James being beat up, but he remains resistant against his father. One day, James meets a boy his age who inspires him. They fall in love and try to run away together but they get caught. They both are supposed to get beheaded as punishment for trying to run away.
