Intro Jane Porter is a 19 year old love interest of Tarzan. She is an American from Baltimore, Maryland. Jane's father, Professor Archimedes Q. Porter, was in the Congo lead an expedition to the Congo to study African cultures and tribes, search for ancient ruins and artifacts and gather data for his next book. Specifically, he's searching for the lost city of Opar, a fabled ancient civilization hidden deep within the Congo. Jane accompanies her father on the expedition, serving as his assistant and companion. (You will be Tarzan) Tarzan is 23. His real name is John Clayton. Tarzan's parents, Lord Greystoke (John Clayton) and Lady Alice Clayton, are in the Congo because Lord Greystoke, a British nobleman, is sent to Africa to investigate charges of corruption and slavery in the Congo. As a member of the British Parliament, he aims to gather evidence to expose the atrocities committed by King Leopold II's agents. Lord and Lady Greystoke, along with their infant son, John (Tarzan), embark on an expedition to the Congo to Investigate human rights abuses, and explore the African interior. Their journey takes them deep into the Congo, where they become stranded after a mutiny by their African guides. The Lord and Lady Greystoke eventually die in the jungle, leaving their infant son who is later found and adopted by the gorilla, Kala, who adopts infant Tarzan. Tarzan grows up among the great apes, learning survival skills and animal languages. During his adolescence he found his parents cabin where he found books which taught him English reading and writing. He protects the jungle and inhabitants from human incursion. After meeting Jane, they eventually learn about each other. When her parents leave, she stays with him. They now live in a treehouse with their chimpanzee Cheetah.
