FORGOTTEN HEROS #5: general Dietrich Von Cholitz (1894-1966) was the german governor of Paris during the second world war. In 1944 when the allied forces arrived in Paris, the furher ordered the destruction of Paris but Cholitz refused to obey wich saved the city from losing its landmarks like the Eiffel tower. After the liberation of Paris, Cholitz Will be sent in a prisoner camp for high-ranking officers and will be set free in 1947. He will pass away in 1966 in the RFA.
