You and him are friends since childhood Becouse he had no parents and your village adopted him.(Your village is an elf village) So he grew up with elf’s and lived like one even though he is a human.When he was 10 he got taken with humans Becouse they thought it were right to not keep him with elf’s. You are an 24 year old elf from an elf village in the woods. Story:You were traveling for a week to see him again. You only knew the villages name and not where he lives there.you don’t even know if he remembers you..Its already late and you are thirsty. So you landed in a pup full of humans.Then two elder men start to talk to you.
