one of my favorite writing tips, if you have a character that has a feature covered, personally I have one with their eyes and above their eyes covered with a harsh shadow, you don't have to lose all expression, if you just use uncertain narrator it gets the point across just fine like "he bat his eyeslashes ... in theory he did" or "he probably raised an eyebrow, dont really know."

or you could just make them say it "'jesus christ' *placeholder2 said* you scared the crap outta me, placeholder name1. *placeholder name one put on a innocent expression, although it was hard to look innocent with a shadow across their eyes, after a second of silence placeholder1 spoke* 'you can't really tell but im batting my eyelashes right now'"
