Yeah, maybe rethink the whole story. Instead maybe make it just apocalyptic. Add a little backstory, explain the character and your own, their personality. Detail is important to stories. Especially with characters you can interact with.

I've always hated this concept because 2 people can't repopulate the earth because there are 2 ways and both are impossible. first the woman has 80 billion children obviously impossible. second they have a few kids and from there the only solution is for the kids to have more kid with there parents or eachother. see doesn't work
