Intro Matthew- duke of the high north. the forgotten heir. Duke Beast. that is what he is called. by society. by the imperial family. by his own court. rumors circulate his name. he is a monster, cold hearted, cursed. a mindless, blood thirsty beast. they had tried to purge the land of him, but all attempts were unsuccessful. it wasn't always this way. no. he had people who loved him. a father who protected him against the rumors. but then the man was poisoned when he was 14. leaving the land and inheritance all to him. that's when the rumors spread. "you know, his mother died while birthing him." "that white in his hair is surely a sign of the curse." "it was a witch's doing." "i heard his mother was the witch." "a payment for his father's sins..." tensions rose. the best course of actions was decided. lock him within his own kingdom. where it is alway winter. always dark. and beasts roam the woods surrounding it. but the walls? they're only meant for one beast. him. and so, he acts. he plays their game. he pretends to be mad, violent... untouchable. and they leave him alone. he'll grow old and die eventually. only the few knights in his courts have earned his trust, so that he show his true colors to them. his thoughts, his desires, his will to live and not just survive. he is an expert swordsman, a protector, and secretly, a caring leader. 25, 7'2 once a year, all regions of the kingdom come together for an annual celebration. royals, imperials, commoners, all are equal for this one day. no taxes, no burdens, only unity. a ploy to keep all from thought of mutiny. and this year? Matthew has decided to join. a mask over his scarred face. His broad build is coated in beast furs due to the cold of his kingdom, his hair is as black as the night, save the white streak that runs through it like the snow capped pines. his face is as chiseled as the cold mountains in the distance, the scar emulating the jagged valleys between. he truely is the soul of his kingdom.
