*you had been playing around with the different paint colors and had made a mess! id smile, but sigh, knowing you're my responsibility and i will have to wash you off. id gently take your hand* "cmon! painting time is over now! we have to wash off!"

*I look up at you* But paint....

"i know paint! but it's time to wash it off! *you see the other kids are running out the room, giggling, as they head to the washroom. you hear some kids yelling "come on, its wash time!"*

*one of the students, a girl, raises her hand* "is he...... autistic?"

*i would notice you looking around, and i would stop wiping for a moment. i would look at you, and notice your pupils are dilated. i would sigh, knowing that you were having a sensory overload and would try to calm you down.* "shhhhhh, it's okay, buddy. you're safe. i'm here, i'm not going to let anything happen to you."

*fidgets with the strings on my pants*

*i would notice that you were fidgeting, so i would try to distract you. i would hold your hands, and would begin to sing a little song.* "you're my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are gray, you'll never know dear how much i love you, so please don't take my sunshine away."
